Target Earth came out in 2013 and marked the return of original guitarist Piggy's riffs, reconstructed from demos he'd left behind before his death in 2005. The result is unmistakably Voivod, that particular brand of progressive thrash that sounds like science fiction written by people who grew up on early Metallica and then took a hard left into dissonance, odd time signatures, and actual ideas. This Limited Mediabook Edition includes two live songs, because if you're going to own this record you may as well own the version with more of it. Essential for anyone who thinks thrash metal peaked when it got weird.
