STEPFATHER FRED Enhancer CD Digipack (2018)

The name Stepfather Fred is doing a lot of work before you even press play. Southern Germany's most oddly named heavy alternative rock band are not here to apologise for anything.

Enhancer is thirteen tracks of guitars turned up past the point of good taste, which is exactly where heavy alternative rock should live. These four have the kind of locked-in chemistry that only comes from years of playing together in rooms that smell like stale beer and ambition. It's heavy, it's direct, and it doesn't waste your time with filler. The DigiPak presentation is a nice touch for a band that clearly cares about the physical format.
