Chris Barnes left Cannibal Corpse and started Six Feet Under, which sounds like a downgrade until you actually listen to Murder Addiction, their 1994 debut that proved death metal could have groove without losing any of the rot.

Thirty-plus years on and Barnes is still grinding, still polarising opinion, still putting out records. Murder Addiction is where it all started, a document of early Florida death metal that holds up better than its reputation sometimes gets credit for.
