SAMSARA The Emptiness CD (2007)

Australian heavy music has always had its own particular intensity, something about the isolation and the heat that breeds a different kind of aggression. Samsara were part of that early 2000s local metalcore and thrash wave that didn't get enough attention outside the scene and probably deserved more.

The Emptiness is a short, sharp record, the kind that doesn't waste your time with intros or outros or anything that isn't riffs and velocity. Three tracks in the tracklist and they hit fast, Hatred, Slaughter, Outcast, the titles doing exactly what they promise. This is Australian underground metal on physical media, which makes it the kind of thing that disappears if nobody keeps it in print. Worth having for collectors of the local scene and anyone who digs their thrash with a metalcore edge and no filler.
