Power metal is a genre that commits fully to the bit, and POWERWOLF commits harder than almost anyone. Wolves, religion, horror imagery, operatic vocals, double kick drums that sound like the apocalypse arriving on horseback. Blood of the Saints is the 2011 record where it all locked into place.

This is the album that turned a lot of heads toward Powerwolf's particular brand of gothic, horror-drenched heavy metal. The songs are built like cathedrals, enormous and ornate, with Attila Dorn's baritone anchoring the whole melodic chaos. Tracks like Sanctified with Dynamite and Murder at Midnight became live staples for good reason. It's bombastic, theatrical, and completely self-aware, which is exactly what makes it work. For fans of dark aesthetic metal who want riffs and drama in equal measure, this is a landmark record from one of Germany's best heavy exports.
