POISON IDEA: Kings Of Punk Vinyl LP

Portland, Oregon produced a lot of ugly things in the early 80s. Kings of Punk is the best of them. Released in 1986, this is Poison Idea at their most confrontational, a band too fat, too loud, and too drunk for the clean-cut hardcore scene they were bulldozing through.

Jerry A. and the crew always sat slightly outside the hardcore canon, too sloppy for the straight-edge crowd, too heavy for the pop-punk kids, too everything for everyone. Which is exactly why they lasted. Kings of Punk isn't a collection of tight two-minute blasters, it's a siege. The remaster on this pressing does nothing to sand off the edges, which is the only correct choice anyone has made here.
