NECROT: Blood Offerings CD

Death metal peaked in the early nineties and nobody told Oakland's Necrot, which is exactly why Blood Offerings rules. Released in 2017, this is the debut full-length that made a lot of people feel embarrassed about whatever they were listening to instead.

Necrot play old-school death metal the way it was meant to be played, which is to say: ugly, relentless, and with complete conviction. No triggers, no click tracks running the show, no melodic breakdowns to keep things palatable. Just Luca Indrio's bass doing things that should be illegal, Chad Gailey hammering the kit into submission, and riffs that borrow equally from Autopsy and Bolt Thrower and improve nothing because there is nothing to improve. It landed on every serious death metal list that year and the hype was, for once, completely warranted. A cornerstone of modern death metal from a scene, the Bay Area underground, that has quietly been doing the work for decades.
