MONOLIYTH Imminent Demise CD (2007)

Australian death metal that never got its due. Monoliyth were part of that early 2000s wave of heavy underground acts that existed somewhere between brutality and atmosphere, the kind of band whose records circulate on dusty shelves and private Facebook groups because people who find them tend to hold on to them.

Imminent Demise, released in 2007, is exactly what the title promises: dense, punishing, and uncompromising. This is the kind of record that got made because the people making it had no interest in being palatable. Australian metal has always had a streak of that, from the early Brutal Truth-influenced acts through to the more recent underground death and doom scenes, and Monoliyth sits comfortably in that lineage.
