Eight tracks and a cover. The title track is a breakup letter to straight edge written by the guy who invented straight edge, which tells you everything about where MacKaye's head was at. This is the record that sits at the centre of American hardcore's mythology, not because it's the most aggressive thing ever recorded, but because it's the most honest. Discord pressing, Dischord catalogue, the whole DC hardcore lineage runs through this record like a fault line. Every punk and alternative fashion kid who's ever sewn a Minor Threat patch onto a jacket has this one to thank for giving patches meaning in the first place.
