Before King Diamond was King Diamond, he was fronting the most theatrically evil band Denmark had ever produced. Mercyful Fate's 1983 debut Melissa is one of those records that didn't just influence heavy metal, it haunted it. Four decades on and people are still getting that album art tattooed on their bodies, which tells you everything.

This licensed woven back patch reproduces the Melissa artwork in full, the kind of centrepiece a battle jacket gets built around. If you're reconstructing a denim or leather vest from scratch, this is where you start. The rest of the patches fill in around it.
