Norwegian black metal has produced its share of landmark records, but Limbonic Art were always operating on a different frequency, somewhere between the frozen riff orthodoxy of Burzum and the orchestral ambition of early Dimmu Borgir, and not quite either.

Legacy of Evil marked the duo's return after a six-year silence, and Daemon and Morfeus came back with zero interest in softening their edge. The symphonic arrangements hit like a cathedral collapsing in slow motion, the black metal foundation stays ugly and uncompromising underneath, and the whole thing sits comfortably in that rare zone where atmosphere and aggression refuse to negotiate with each other. Essential for any serious dark metal collection.
