Kurt Cobain NIRVANA Japan Poster 186

There's a specific kind of Nirvana image that lives in Japan, overexposed, slightly chaotic, shot at the exact moment grunge became something the whole world was watching whether it wanted to or not.

Kurt Cobain's relationship with fame was famously uncomfortable, and the Japan era captures that tension well, a band that crawled out of Aberdeen and Olympia's cassette-trading underground suddenly playing arenas in a country that treated them like gods. For anyone who came to Nirvana through Bleach before Nevermind, or who still argues about whether In Utero was their actual masterpiece, this belongs on your wall. Grunge wasn't a trend, it was a fracture.
