KREATOR Gods Of Violence CD/DVD (2017)

Kreator have been doing this since 1982 and they still sound angrier than bands half their age. That's not a compliment you hand out lightly.

Gods of Violence is the Essen thrash legends' fourteenth album and one of their strongest since Coma of Souls. Released in 2017, it lands somewhere between the melodic accessibility of Phantom Antichrist and the raw aggression of Terrible Certainty, which is to say it's exactly what a Kreator record should be. Mille Petrozza's riffs are locked in, the production is enormous without losing its teeth, and the title track alone justifies the purchase. This limited edition digipak includes a DVD, making it the version worth tracking down. The German thrash metal big four, Kreator, Destruction, Sodom and Tankard, don't get enough credit for keeping the genre alive through the 90s when everyone else was chasing grunge. Kreator especially.
