1984. Iron Maiden release Powerslave and somewhere a generation of kids decide that ancient Egypt, pharaohs, and a skeletal mascot named Eddie is exactly the aesthetic they want to carry for the rest of their lives. Good call.

The Powerslave album art sits at the peak of Derek Riggs' work with the band, monumental in scale and completely unhinged in concept, which is precisely why it still lands. This alternate version of the artwork gives you something a little left of the standard print, for the Maiden collector who already has the obvious pieces covered and wants to go deeper into the catalogue.
