Derek Riggs painted Eddie as a pharaoh in 1984, and Iron Maiden took the whole thing on a world tour so long they named it the World Slavery Tour. Powerslave is the album that turned a British heavy metal band into a genuine spectacle, a travelling monument to excess, ambition, and ancient Egypt rendered in lurid detail.

The artwork, all gold and hieroglyphics and that unmistakable Eddie silhouette, has been a staple of alternative and metal bedroom walls ever since. The kind of thing that looks genuinely good framed up once you're done, as any dark aesthetic home deserves.
