This 2014 self-titled debut from the US act lands in the black metal tradition that treats atmosphere as a weapon, not a mood board. There's a debt here to Blasphemy's war metal brutality and Mayhem's foundational chaos, but Hymns filters it through something more suffocating than either. It doesn't grandstand. It accumulates. The kind of dark, abrasive record that rewards patience from listeners who already know their way around Cemetery Urn and Impiety and want something to stack alongside them.
