The Haunted have never really cared whether you thought they were death metal, thrash, or groove, and The Unseen is exactly that kind of record: restless, pissed off, and sharper than it has any right to be.

Released in 2011 on Century Media, The Unseen came after a four-year gap that saw lineup reshuffles and no shortage of noise from the Swedish metal underground. Peter Dolving's vocal performance here is all controlled aggression and raw nerve, sitting over riffs that lock in somewhere between the bone-dry punch of rEVOLVEr and the melodic death metal roots the band never fully abandoned. It is not their flashiest record. It is one of their most focused. This copy is signed, which for a band of The Haunted's calibre in the Swedish extreme metal canon, matters.
