Harkonin's Detest comes from that particular corner of the early 2010s US underground where black metal and thrash metal were being welded back together with zero interest in polish or diplomacy. Tracks like Chaos Anthem and Ruled By Tyrants lay it out plainly: this is aggressive, antagonistic metal for people who find most metal insufficiently hostile. It sits in the same dark aesthetic neighbourhood as early Skeletonwitch or Gospel of the Horns, raw and direct with a genuine punk edge underneath the blast beats.
