GHOST INSIDE, (The) Dear Youth CD (2014)

Dear Youth dropped in October 2014. Less than a year later, The Ghost Inside were in a head-on collision with a semi-trailer outside of El Paso that left members with broken bones, amputations, and a recovery measured in years, not months. The album hit differently after that, and it still does.

Before any of that, Dear Youth was already the band operating at their peak, all urgency and precision in the melodic metalcore pocket they'd been refining since their days as A Dying Dream. It's the kind of record that reminded a lot of people why they got into heavy music in the first place, the kind of album the Australian alternative and metal crowd latched onto hard. The Ghost Inside's story is one of the more remarkable ones in the genre, and this is the document of who they were right before everything changed.
