Germany has been quietly producing some of the most technically competent melodeath and metalcore for decades, and Emergency Gate are a solid entry in that tradition, doing the polished European thing without losing the actual bite.

Rewake landed in 2009 during a moment when the melodeath and metalcore crossover was producing genuinely interesting records, and this holds up as a product of that period. It's got the melodic sensibility you'd expect from the European scene alongside the heavier metalcore leanings that were pulling the genre in new directions at the time.
