Don Lynch and Don Dokken spent years fighting each other in the press like it was a competitive sport, and somehow the band kept making records anyway. That's a particular kind of stubborn, and it translates directly into the music.

Heaven Comes Down is 2023 Dokken doing what Dokken has always done: big melodic hooks, George Lynch's lead work cutting through everything else in the room, hard rock that doesn't apologise for caring about the chorus. It's not a nostalgia cash-in. The production is clean, the songs are there, and Lynch sounds like he has something to prove, which is when he's always been most interesting.
