Tuesday the 28th of October, 1980. Discharge take the stage at the Music Machine in London and proceed to destroy the concept of rock and roll in under thirty minutes. You weren't there, but now you can at least pretend.

This 2024 pressing captures one of the most important bands in punk history at the exact moment they were figuring out what they were going to become. Discharge in 1980 are not yet the full d-beat machine of Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing, they're something rawer and more dangerous, a band mid-transformation with the kind of live energy that you can feel through your speakers even forty-odd years later. The influence of this lot on hardcore punk, thrash, crust, and metal is essentially unmeasurable. Napalm Death, Metallica, the entire crust punk genealogy, it all runs through Discharge. Owning this is less a purchase and more an act of historical documentation.
