Death Cult Armageddon is the album where the Oslo outfit brought in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and turned symphonic black metal into something that genuinely sounded like the end of civilisation scored for a blockbuster nobody greenlit. Purists called it overproduced. Everyone else called it enormous. Nick Barker was still behind the kit, Mustis and Vortex were locked in, and tracks like Progenies of the Great Apocalypse proved that bombast, when fully committed to, becomes its own kind of brutality. This limited edition Metalbook pressing is the collector's format, a hardback CD case that treats the packaging with the same theatrical seriousness the band brought to the record itself. Twenty-plus years on, these don't surface often in this condition.
