DEVIL Time To Repent (2011) CD

The doom revival of the late 2000s produced a lot of bands who worshipped at the altar of Black Sabbath without really understanding what made the original mass so heavy. Devil were not those bands.

Norway's Devil arrived in 2011 with Time to Repent swinging a sound firmly rooted in classic doom and traditional heavy metal, all swaggering riffs, organ undertones, and vocals that channel the era when rock and occult theatre were genuinely intertwined. This is the kind of record that sounds like it was found in a crate at a market, sleeve sun-bleached and mysterious, and you'd be annoyed at yourself for sleeping on it. The dark aesthetic here isn't cosplay, it's structural, baked into every tempo choice and chord voicing.
