By 1992, Def Leppard had lost their guitarist, survived a near-impossible recording process, and still come out the other side making records that sounded like the most expensive stadium in the world. Adrenalize was the follow-up nobody was sure was coming, and it absolutely did not tone anything down.

This is peak arena rock, the kind that knew exactly what it was and committed completely. Big hooks, layered vocals stacked into the stratosphere, production that made Hysteria sound restrained. It polarised people at the time, which is always a decent sign. If your entry point to heavy music was the flashier, more melodic end of hard rock and heavy metal, this is a cornerstone record.
