Death metal and grindcore have always had a transatlantic conversation going, but when the west coast brutality of Deathgrave collides with Japanese death metal outfit Black Ganion, the result is something that feels less like a split and more like a mutual destruction pact pressed onto maroon vinyl.

Deathgrave have been terrorising San Francisco since 2012, dragging grindcore through the filthiest corners of death metal with absolutely zero interest in making it comfortable. Black Ganion bring the Japanese extreme metal tradition to the table, a lineage that runs through Abigail, Coffins and beyond, where the genre gets weirder, heavier and more unhinged. Together on wax they make a strong case for why splits exist at all: two bands, one shared commitment to punishment.
