James Wan made Dead Silence in 2007, sandwiched between Saw and Insidious, and somehow it still doesn't get the respect it deserves. Mary Shaw, the murdered ventriloquist haunting Ravens Fair from beyond the grave, is genuinely unsettling in ways that most modern horror franchises spend entire trilogies failing to achieve.

This is her puppet, Billy's face wearing a clown variation, the vessel through which Shaw claimed her victims and, legend has it, secured her own twisted immortality.
