By 2009, Dark Funeral had been doing this for nearly two decades, and they still hadn't calmed down.

Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus is their sixth studio record and one of the cleaner entry points into the Swedish black metal institution, if clean is a word you can use for an album that translates roughly to Angel, Burn for Eternity. The production sits a step above the deliberately raw end of the genre without losing the aggression that made Secrets of the Black Arts matter in the first place. Sweden has always run its black metal differently to Norway, more precise, more deliberately structured, and Dark Funeral sit at the sharp end of that tradition. This one belongs in the collection alongside Marduk, Dissection and Belphegor.
