CRADLE OF FILTH Midian CD Album Released (2000)

Dani Filth spent the late nineties turning Cradle of Filth into the most divisive band in extreme metal, and Midian was the peak of that particular gothic black metal soap opera. Named after the city of monsters from Clive Barker's Cabal, this is the album where the symphonic excess hit maximum overdrive and absolutely nobody was sorry about it.

Released in 2000 on Music for Nations, Midian arrived with a concept drenched in horror literature and occult theatrics, Barker himself contributing liner notes. Tracks like Her Ghost in the Fog and Cthulhu Dawn are COF at their most bombastic, all cathedral keyboards, blast beats, and Dani shrieking somewhere between a banshee and a Victorian gothic novelist having a meltdown. It divided the kvlt crowd and sold an absolute truckload. Both things were fine.

Full length CD, 2000 pressing. UK origin. Genre: Death/Symphonic/Black Metal. Clocks in at around 55 minutes of dramatic, horror-drenched darkness.
