Sulphur Seraph sits in a lineage of European extreme metal that takes its theology seriously and its sonic violence even more so. Raw-edged, ritualistically paced in places and then suddenly not, it pulls from the same well of blasphemy and Northern European darkness that made Dissection and Venom essential. This is not background music. It is not gym music. It is the kind of record that makes sense at 2am with the lights off, which is exactly the kind of record that belongs at ALT CVLT.
