Germany's Bulletmonks arrived in 2009 with a name that sounds like a biker gang and an album title that was probably funnier before airport security got weird about it.

Weapons Of Mass Destruction lands somewhere in the territory where alternative hard rock bleeds into heavy metal, the kind of record that exists in that mid-2000s to late-2000s space where the production is thick, the riffs are direct, and nobody's apologising for wanting a chorus that actually hits. It's not reinventing anything, but it knows exactly what it is, and there's a version of that which is its own kind of integrity. German metal has always had a directness that the genre benefits from, and the Bulletmonks fit that lineage without being throwbacks about it.
