BRING ME THE HORIZON Post Human: NeX GEn CD (2024)
Bring Me the Horizon have spent the better part of a decade daring their original fanbase to keep up. Most of them did. Post Human: NeX GEn is the record where BMTH stop apologising for the evolution and lean all the way in.
The Sheffield band's trajectory from metalcore bruisers to whatever this is now is one of the more interesting moves in alternative music this decade. NeX GEn sits in a genuinely strange space, pop instincts colliding with industrial textures, electronic production, and the kind of hooks that lodge themselves somewhere unpleasant and refuse to leave. It's an album that makes more sense as a cultural object than as a genre exercise, which is probably the point. Oli Sykes has been talking about this record's conceptual ambitions for years and the finished thing, chaotic and maximalist and occasionally baffling, mostly delivers on the premise. Good car album if your car speakers can handle it.
CD, digipak format. Full length studio album, 2024 release.
