Compiled from a run of 7-inch releases across the early nineties, this is riot grrrl at its most raw and confrontational. "Rebel Girl" is one of the most important punk songs recorded by anyone, full stop, and hearing it pressed on a proper 12-inch for the first time is the kind of thing that makes you want to start a band or a zine or at minimum an argument. The Olympia scene that Bikini Kill helped ignite, alongside bands like Sleater-Kinney, Heavens to Betsy, and Bratmobile, reshaped what alternative music could look like and who it was actually for. This reissue on Bikini Kill Records keeps everything exactly as it should be: loud, blunt, and refusing to be polite about it.
