BEDEMON Child Of Darkness (2005) CD

Bedemon never made it out of the '70s, not really. This Pittsburgh doom outfit recorded their demos in 1974, shelved them, and let the tapes rot for decades while the rest of the world caught up to what they were doing. By the time Child of Darkness finally got a proper release, it had already quietly influenced half the doom metal underground without anyone being able to name the source.

This 2005 Italian release compiles those long-buried recordings and presents them as the artifact they always were: raw, slow, heavy, and completely uninterested in your approval. The riffs drag like funeral processions. The vocals sit somewhere between Black Sabbath's early murk and the kind of occult rock that Pagan Altar was quietly perfecting on the other side of the Atlantic. If you're already into Saint Vitus or Count Raven, you owe it to yourself to hear where a chunk of that DNA traces back to.
