Not All Prisons Have Bars arrived in 2024 carrying the slow, suffocating density that defines the best of the doom/death tradition, somewhere in the lineage of diSEMBOWELMENT and early My Dying Bride but with its own particular darkness. The title alone tells you what you need to know about the thematic territory: confinement, dread, the kind of horror that doesn't announce itself with a knock. This is gothic metal at its most visceral, and it belongs on a cassette, loud, in a dark room.
