1994 was a weird year for punk. Major labels were circling like vultures, and Bad Religion, already fifteen years deep and sharper than most of their peers, signed to Atlantic and somehow made their best record.

Stranger Than Fiction is where Greg Graffin's PhD-level misanthropy met its most accessible delivery, and the result converted an entire generation of skate park philosophers into lifelong punk lifers. 'Infected', 'Stranger Than Fiction', 'Hooray For Me.', '21st Century Digital Boy' (re-recorded here and finally getting its moment), this is the album that proved punk could have hooks without losing its teeth. Produced by Andy Wallace with contributions from the late Brett Gurewitz, it still sounds like a band with something to prove even after they'd already proven it.
