Atrophaneura Semperi (Vampire Butterfly) Genuine Framed Specimen

The Atrophaneura Semperi earns its name honestly, deep velvet black wings edged in an arterial red that looks like something out of a Hammer Horror colour palette. Native to the Philippines, it's a large, dramatic species where the female outgrows the male and develops distinctive fringing on the hindwings. As far as the insect world goes, this one has more goth credibility than most of the people at your local dark alternative night. Framed and real, it sits somewhere between natural history museum and the wall of someone who has very good taste and zero interest in explaining themselves.
