Arcana were one of the defining acts of the late 90s and early 2000s Swedish neoclassical scene, orbiting the Cold Meat Industry universe alongside Raison d'être and Sophia. Peter Pettersson built cathedrals out of choir arrangements, orchestral swells, and a kind of spiritual desolation that never tips into melodrama. Inner Pale Sun from 2002 sits in that tradition, dense and meditative, the kind of record that asks something of you before it gives anything back. This is dark ambient for people who actually listen to dark ambient.
