AND OCEANS Am God Vinyl LP (2001)
Finnish black metal in the late nineties was doing something genuinely unhinged, and AND OCEANS were deep in it. A.M.G.O.D. landed in 2001 as one of the more polarising records in the symphonic black metal canon, the kind of album that split underground forums clean in half because it refused to stay in its lane. Industrial textures, electronic programming, and blast beats woven into something that sounded like EMPEROR deciding to get weird with a sequencer. Some called it a betrayal. The rest of us called it interesting.
This 20th anniversary edition marks the first time A.M.G.O.D. has ever appeared on vinyl, which for a record this significant in the dark aesthetic underground is long overdue. If your collection runs toward the experimental, the symphonic, and the deliberately abrasive, this belongs in the rack.
