Australia has quietly produced some of the most unhinged extreme metal on the planet, and The Amenta are proof. Sydney's finest purveyors of industrial death metal, they built their sound like a machine that hates you, all grinding mechanised riffs, blast furnace percussion, and a nihilism that makes their countrymates in Psycroptic sound almost cheerful.

(The) n0n (2008) is the band's second full-length, and it doubles down on the suffocating aesthetic of Occasus while dragging the sound further into digital horror territory. Think Zyklon without the black metal ancestry, or Godflesh reborn as something with more venom. The programmed elements don't sanitise, they corrode. This is Australian-made extreme music that belongs in the same conversation as anything Europe has thrown at the genre.
