Dimension Hatröss came out in 1988 and most thrash bands hadn't even figured out how to tune down yet. Voivod were somewhere else entirely, writing progressive metal that sounded like it was beamed in from a dying satellite.

This is the album where the Quebec sci-fi weirdos fully committed to the dissonant, angular sound that made them legends in every circle from death metal to prog to post-punk. Piggy's guitar work here is genuinely unlike anything else in heavy music, atonal chords that shouldn't work but absolutely do, underpinning Snake's dystopian concept about a prisoner trapped in a dimension between life and death.
