VILE RITES: The Ageless CD

Santa Rosa, California doesn't get much credit in the metal conversation. Vile Rites are doing their best to change that.

The Ageless is a progressive death metal EP that leans hard into the psychedelic end of the spectrum, the kind of record that owes as much to the more unhinged corners of early Death and Atheist as it does to anything happening in the contemporary scene. It's technical without being sterile, disorienting without losing the plot. These are songs with genuine architecture, not just riff salads dressed up in odd time signatures. If you've been following the slow, creeping revival of death metal that actually challenges the listener, this belongs in the rotation.
