Newcastle's unholy trinity of Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon didn't invent extremity so much as kick the door open and dare everyone else to follow. The Welcome to Hell and Black Metal albums gave an entire genre its name and its attitude, and Cronos, teeth bared and bass turned up, became the blueprint for what frontmen in this world are supposed to look like.
