A day-flying moth from Peru, the Urania leilus pulls the same iridescent trick as the famous Madagascar Sunset Moth, its equally spectacular relative. The wing patterning sits somewhere between rainforest camouflage and art nouveau stained glass, greens and golds shifting with the light. Natural history and alternative fashion have always had more in common than people admit.
