Tlamanlli, meaning offering or sacrifice, is the 2019 debut EP from this California-based Indigenous death/doom metal band, one of the more genuinely significant releases to emerge from the underground in recent years. Their sound pulls traditional Mesoamerican instrumentation and cosmology into the marrow of doom-laden death metal, and the result is crushing in a way that goes beyond riff weight. This isn't gimmick metal. It's reclamation, done through one of the heaviest formats available.
