TWIN TEMPLE (Bring You Their Signature Sound… Satanic Doo Wop) CD
The 1950s were always a little sinister if you looked at them right. Twin Temple just looked harder than everyone else.
The LA duo of Alexandra and Zachary James arrived fully formed with this debut, and the concept is exactly what it says: doo-wop songwriting with Satanic theology baked into the lyrics, delivered with Alexandra's pitch-perfect vintage vocal and a band that sounds like they fell through a trapdoor in a sock hop straight into a Black Mass. It's funny, it's seductive, it's genuinely well-executed as both a genre exercise and an occult statement. Tracks like "I Am a Witch" and "Lucifer, My Love" aren't ironic novelty, they're sincere devil worship dressed up in candy-coloured harmonies, which is arguably the more disturbing delivery method. For fans of dark alternative music with actual hooks, this one cuts through the noise.
