TRIGGER - Cryogenesis CD (2017)

Progressive metal from Australia that earns the word progressive, meaning it actually goes somewhere unexpected rather than just adding a keyboard part and calling it a day.

Trigger's Cryogenesis sits in that satisfying overlap between melodic thrash aggression and progressive metal ambition. The riffs hit hard, the structures take turns you don't see coming, and the whole thing holds together with the tight, purposeful feel of a band that has spent a serious amount of time in rehearsal rooms working this stuff out. Australian prog-thrash is a small and genuinely underrated scene, and Trigger belong at the sharper end of it. Released 2017 and still worth your time.
