Time Capsule: Australian Sounds 1985-1994 Vol. 1 is the decade that actually changed things, the years when local punk, indie, grunge, and alternative scenes were building something genuine and largely ignored by everyone outside the inner suburbs of Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane who bothered to show up. This is the stuff that circulated on dubbed cassettes and photocopied zines, the music that built the underground that everything else grew out of. A double LP vinyl comp like this is a proper artefact, not a nostalgia cash-grab, and the fact that it's landed here as an RSD release and is being sold by ALT CVLT out of Frankston feels appropriately full-circle for the culture it represents.
