2009 was a weird year to drop a radio-friendly hard rock album, but Three Days Grace didn't care, and neither did the kids who bought it. Life Starts Now hit platinum in Canada, went gold in the US, and soundtracked a lot of bedrooms where people were quietly working out who they were.

This isn't nostalgia bait. Three Days Grace occupied a genuinely interesting space in the 2000s alt-metal landscape, somewhere between post-grunge heaviness and the kind of melody that gets stuck in your skull for a week. The Life Starts Now era was their commercial peak and, depending on who you ask, their last great record before Adam Gontier's departure changed everything. For fans of that chapter, this one belongs on the wall.
