1976, Dublin boys conquer the world. Phil Lynott writes working-class mythology disguised as hard rock, and the twin guitar attack of Gorham and Robertson turns it into something that still sounds like electricity made physical. The Boys Are Back In Town became one of the most recognisable riffs in rock history almost by accident, while the album around it, Thunder and Lightning, Emerald, the title track, is a front-to-back statement that holds up against anything from that era.
